Q&A: JoJo Gives Tips for Prom Night

Via Ellegirl.com: Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, or “JoJo”, as most of us know her, took the world by storm in 2004—at the ripe age of 13—with her infectious pop song “Leave (Get Out)”. Now, three albums and two movies later, the 21-year-old singer/actress is adding another job to her already lengthy and impressive resume: spokeswoman for Clearasil.

In addition to singing, acting, and modeling, JoJo has become a seasoned expert on beauty tips as a result of repping this leading skin care and acne brand. We asked the pop star, who’s also hosted “Ultimate Prom”, for some much-needed pre-Prom advice on fashion, skin, and must-have beauty items. Here’s what she had to say:

ELLEgirl (EG): What are some fashion trends you predict will take over Prom this year?
JoJo (JJ): I love gowns with a full skirt and one shoulder dresses! I also love jewel tones.

EG: Do you recommend wearing bold makeup or a more natural, toned down look?
JJ: Whatever makes you feel most special and beautiful is what you should wear, makeup-wise. However, remember that less is more. Don’t hide your natural beauty.

EG: If a girl gets a surprise zit on Prom day, what should she do?
JJ: Don’t freak out! Develop a routine for the weeks leading up to Prom and stick to it. I use Clearasil PerfectaWash twice a day so my skin stays clear without over drying. But if an uninvited pimple shows up on Prom day, use the Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Vanishing Treatment Cream to reduce redness and size in just four hours! And no matter what, stay confident!

EG: What should a girl do if she doesn’t get asked?
JJ: I think it’d be more fun to go to Prom with a friend anyway! Get a pal or a group of friends together and plan for the night of your lives.

EG: What are some accessories that will make Prom perfect?
JJ: A unique hair piece that accents your dress, a great clutch, and pretty jewelry to add some flash to your ensemble are all great accessories for the occasion.

EG: What are some must-have carry-ons in your Prom purse?
JJ: Sheer powder to get rid of excess shine…you don’t want to look shiny in photos! Also be sure to pack lip gloss, breath freshener (I recommend strips or drops), bobby pins, and double-sided tape—just in case!

EG: Any other tips to make the evening one to remember?
JJ: Keep it drama-free! Remember that this is YOUR night. Don’t stress about anything other than having fun and keeping a smile on your face. Enjoy it with people who are fun, positive, and good to you! Don’t compare your experience to others. And don’t forget to take pictures!
